Casting Eyeballs

Adventures in Silicone Moulds and Electronics - Pt 1

Casting Eyeballs

A strange title, but since I read a Cinefex years ago about the animatronics in Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles I have wanted to play about with animatronic eyes. Fast forward 30 years and I stumble across Nilheim Mechatronics and his youtube channel. He did some videos on eye mechanisms and with a 3d printer showed how you could create a mechanism and cast some eyes to go in it. So here is a series of videos of me experimenting with silicone moulding and my adventures casting eyeballs.

My first attempt at casting.

Now I remake the moulds

And the eyes are finally revealed.

Thanks to Will from Nilheim Mechatronics. Find his channel here

The stl files are on his instructable here.
